Learner permit restrictions

On Long Island

 

  • You may not drive with a permit, unless, accompanied by a person at least 21 years old.

  • Person must be a licensed parent, guardian, or driving instructor.

  • You may not drive in a DMV road test area.

  • You may only drive between the hours of 5 am to 9 pm.

  • All passengers must be use a seat belt.

Junior License Restrictions

  • You may not drive with a junior license unless accompanied by a person at least 21 years old.
    Person must be a licensed parent, guardian, or driving instructor.

  • When not accompanied, you may drive: To and from work , A work study program ( BOCES ), A course at a college, or registered evening high school, A  driver education course.
